What is the Early Detection Screen?
Our Early Detection Screen is the earliest accredited test for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C available in South Africa. The test looks for the presence of the virus itself in your body. It is reliable from just ten days after any potential exposure.
Which infections are tested for?
The Early Detection Screen tests for:
- HIV I
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
You can add on other tests to this screen. However, if you are looking for a more comprehensive screen, you may want to consider our Early Platinum Screen.
What samples are required?
This screen needs a blood sample. There are no eating and drinking requirements before this test.

What if I test positive for STI?
The Early Detection Screen is a reliable test, and if you test positive then you will have found out at an early stage of infection. We will help you with the next steps which can include: confirmatory testing, referral to a specialist, and onward counselling to manage emotional and practical aspects.
